The Alternate!!

In The Walking Dead, there are many factors that come into play when working with an ending to an episode. In order to pick the right one, it takes a team of writers to come together and decide what fits best for our characters. In an episode that was on season 2, Shane opened the doors to the barn and let he walkers out. He then rallied the group up and they all opened fire at the walkers coming towards them. The last walker that came out was Carol's daughter Sophia. In another ending I was thinking, Sophia was indeed not a walker, but she was inside the barn hiding from the walkers, and alive. Even though this would be a happier ending, it wouldn't get as many raves, awes, and reviews as the fact that she is a walker. This is also necessary because its the crucial turning point in Carol's character to se her daughter has been a walker this entire time that they've been looking for her.

Because of this specific ending to Sophia being a walker, Carol turns into a strong hard headed woman. Which is necessary for her character.
